History

YP3A has been the contest call sign of National Children’ S Palace Radioclub (YO3KPA) for about 25 years.

The Founding Father of this radio club is Sandy, YO3ND, who had worked at the National Children's Palace for 38 years before he retired in 2010. Nowadays Daniel, (Florin)YO3GOD, Sandy’s son, is aiming to obtain the same results.

Sandy YO3ND ex YO3AWC (chairman 1974-2010) and Nicu YO3CB (chairman 1954-1974), the founders of National Children's Palace Radio club YO3KPA.

Sandy commenced work at the National Children s Palace in 1973. He is The Parent, the technical builder, not only an electronics tutor at National Children s Palace. He has always been the greatest operator who taught, who raised beginner operators who now are top excellence in different teams all over the world.

In 1996 Sandy, helped by Ciprian YO3FWC/N2YO, began his project: YP3A. This call sign, now the contest call of The National Children’s Palace (YO3KPA) was the one used by the Romanian National Team which scored 1^st Place in the world in 1983 WPX contest . That team was made up of aces like Andy-YO3AC, Radu-YO4HW, Costel –YO8BAM, Vasile-YO3AAJ, Pit-YO3JW, Lix – YO3NP.

December 1996 was the beginning of Florin (Daniel) – YO3GOD as ham. He grew up together with the YP3A project. Daniel had always taken part in all contesting teams for 14 years, until 2010 when Sandy retired because a heart attack. From that time, Daniel took up his role, helping YP3A raise new generations.

Back in the day, Sandy - YO3ND, and Ciprian – YO3FWC (N2YO nowadays) were at the beginning of a great story which is now going further, after 20 years of continuous contesting. Sandy is still putting effort in, even he retired in 2010. Ciprian left us in 2002, currently being part of the NR4M team.

In 2000 Andy - YO3GRE (YO3JR now) and Mihai ,YO3JOS joined our team. They were with us for 3 years in 2003, when they started their own team YR7M alongside Mihai – YO3CTK

In 2001, in CQWW-CW Tibi – YO9GZU joined our team.

Around 2002-2003, Mircea YO3GDA (YO3XX) joins the YP3A story. He brought his friend Alex - YO3HAE ( YO3HA) over, with whom he was involved in HST at YO3KSB radio club alongside Vasile – YO3AAJ.
